Weird home button?

Is it normal for the home button on my iPhone 4 to be hard to press down, and sort of recessed into the face of the phone?

The edges of the button should be flush. The center of the button is depressed.

It should be recessed so that the edges are flush with the glass on the face of the phone. On my iPhone 4 the button is not hard to push at all.

That depends on what you think is "hard to press" which is determined by the muscles in your fingers and hands. If you can find someone else with an iPhone 4, press theirs and see if it's any different or go to an Apple Store or AT&T and try a demo model.
