Iphone 4 3G Data Usage Question

I noticed when my iphone is connected to a wifi network that it some times will use roughly 20kb of cellular data every once and awhile. I thought that it was suppose to run all internet usage through the wifi?

I have been seeing the same thing. I would like to know why.

Because your phone sends data back to whoever your cell company is, and if your phone is asleep, the wifi isn't on and it will use 3G, just how it goes....(from what I know)

I thought in os4 it can use wifi when in sleep mode. If it is sending info to ATT does that data count against my plan?

Are you on a limited data plan? Just wondering, cause I have never even thought to look for something like this. If AT&T someday forces me onto a limited plan I will definitely be keeping an eye on that!!

yea i am on the 200mb plan so I am really wondering where my precious data is going.
