Ordered directly at a AT&T store .. What's the process ?

Ok so I'm new to the pre ordering an iPhone I always used an unlocked one with tmobile but I decided to switch to AT&T and use the phone properly. So I went to a AT&T store on the 15th and walked into the store round 1030 and placed my order the salesgirl said the servers were down so she activated my account n switched my number over but just took my credit card number down n said she would call when the system was up and running. So i got a call round 330 saying my order went through and that my card was run but I didn't get a tracking number or order number. I called today an basically she said the phone would come with my name on it but that there is no way to track it with them. Is this the way they do it at the actual stores ?
