I currently have a family plan with a 3G iPhone and a Razr. I'd like to update both to an iPhone 4, and they're both elegible without penalty. After lots of trying I was able to pre-order the update for the old iPhone at apple.com yesterday evening, I even got a confirmation email (July 2 ship). The second phone, however, passes the eligibility screen fine, but then fails after picking data&text plans and shows:
We were unable to complete set up online.
To finish creating your account, youll need to visit an Apple Retail Store where we can help you in person.
Between yesterday evening and right now, I must have tried 50x, always the same result.
- Is this something that fails because of my complex AT&T account setup, or just because the Apple/ATT servers are still hosed?
- Does it make any sense to go to an Apple store, can they take a pre-order there?
