Sound Check

So from my understanding, the "sound check" function is supposed to be some sort of normalizer so that the volume of songs is uniform across your entire collection. But I'm still noticing that, even though sound check is on, there are still some songs that sound noticeably louder than others. Any ideas?

Good question. The few times I have encountered this, I just used Audacity to normalize the sounds. Can anyone else think of anything?
