iPhone Email 2007

I was randomly watching the Keynote from 2007 when the first iPhone was showcased. When Steve is demoing the email app he shows to split screen the email so you can see the current message you are in and other messages in your inbox that you can scroll through. it looks very similar to the iPad and Mail application on the mac. Does anyone know if that feature was in the original iPhone when it got released?
