Higher Resolution for 4.0 final release?

We all know there have been rumors that 4.0 would bring a 960x640 resolution but we didn't see that announcement made at yesterday's event. Would it still be possible for Apple to double the iPhone's resolution with this summer's new iPhone? Or did yesterday's lack of this announcement diminish its chances?

That's because yesterdays keynote had nothing to do with hardware. I promise you a higher resolution with the next iPhone.

The new iPhone is almost certainly going to have higher res then the current gen. Yesterday was about OS 4.0 and only OS 4.0, that is why there was not anything about the new hardware.

Ok for some reason I thought a higher resolution was part of a software update. Glad to know that it's likely coming

A bigger screen would be great too. After seeing those 4.3" screens from HTC, anything smaller just doesn't feel right lol

IF the new 4.0 OS and hardware offer higher res, then wouldn't ALL 150,000 iPhone apps have to update this as well? Butttt it would make it more in line with iPad res? well maybe

At the iPhone's screen size the apps wouldn't HAVE TO upgrade right away, as it would actually appear almost exactly the same given that the screen size does not increase dramatically.

A higher resolution version of the app could make for higher definition and sharper detail than we've seen before, but running a 320x480 app on a 3.5" screen wouldn't really look any worse than it does now.
