Phone as Itouch

A friend was given a 2g phone, but he doesn't want to use it as a phone. Just wants
to use as itouch and use wifi. right now it is on the usb/itunes screen. does he have to activate to use it? Does he have to sync with itunes acct to use?

any help would be appreciated.

Try to search. But, basically he'll have to jailbreak it to use it as a touch. Just google or search here, it will answer your question and its easy.

Thats not True..... You can switch it to an ipod touch. Here is a support page from apple on how to do this.

That will only work if you still have a sim card in the phone. If your using the sim in another phone then you will indeed have to jailbreak the phone which only takes seconds.
