Bluetooth, and wired handsfree NOT WORKING.

I have purchased a 3g compatible bluetooth handsfree (made by apple) and it wont pair with my phone. My phone wont find any bluetooth device.
After giving up with this -
Tried the wired handsfree stereo headset that came with my Iphone and this doesnt work either. I plug it in and nothing happens, have tried pressing buttons but the music plays through the speaker on the iphone. Doesn't work with calls either.

Any ideas - Getting close to throwing this phone in the bin and buying a nokia.

Try taking the phone to an Apple store.
