Consequences of jailbreaking?
I know of all of the pros of jailbreaking an iPhone, but what are the cons? Will my phone brick? Is it possible this will ruin my warranty? Other issues? I just bought a 3GS a couple weeks ago and I do not want to void my warranty or ruin my phone. I would like to try jailbreaking the device to see what it is all about but I need info! Anything would help!

Besides the risk of "Bricking" your iPhone, the biggest concern with JBing your iPhone is after you install OpenSSH your iPhone will leave it vulnerable to exploit via WIFI hot spots. If you have sent any files to your iPhone via SFTP. Then you currently are aware of the devices root username and password! (Many other people know this as well!)

Just an FYI , if you Jailbreak and theres issues you can always restore to new and apple will be none the wiser .
