Why Switch to an iPhone

Hello Everyone,

I am actually a palm pre owner and i am thinking about switching to the Iphone. I have been reluctant all this time because i was maintaining my loyalty to Sprint and did not want to switch to AT&T. But I love Apple products and all my other electronics are Apple, ie Mac and Ipod.

So I am looking for you guys to tell me why I should switch to the Iphone. I am dying to do so and I want to hear from Iphone owners as to why.

I just got my first iPhone 3 days ago, bought it used off of ebay. I LOVE IT. I am with ATT, PREPAID, had to do some fancy foot work and cajole a young ATT store employee in person to list the used iPhone on my account and then spend a couple of hours sweet talking a CSR to get whatever done and then a tech Support/iPhone specialist to change some things around, but everything is working now and I DON'T HAVE A CONTRACT.

My iPhone is UNLOCKED AND JAILBROKEN. It can be used with T Mobile and a variety of other GSM carriers, so you are NOT stuck with ATT any more. I would encourage you to buy USED AND A 2 G, less money upfront so you can find out whether it is for you and 2 G come to find out from a very nice poster on another thread that posted a link compariing 2G to 3G is pretty much the same.

I am finding that my iPhone is a hand held computer that I can make phone calls on and STILL LEARNING everyday.

I love the touchscreen and the iPhone is proving to be very useful, I have experimented with A LOT of different cell phones and NONE can compare to what I am finding on the iPhone.

I currently own a blackberry storm 9500 uk voda (3rd handset now due to lots of faults!) and am thinking of getting an iphone 3gs 32gb, but want to know a couple of things before taking the plunge,
can you listen to music and use other apps at the same time?
can you use you mp3s in your libary as ringtones?
can you make calls in a poor reception area using wifi network? (when connected to a wifi network)

For me it was the battery life is much better on the 3GS then my Bold has. I can leave my BT, Location, WiFi on with 4 email accounts, 1 Exchange push and get 2 days before I need a charge. The apps on it are amazing and have helped not only myself but my family with some of the medical apps that are on the app store.

The ONLY thing that really bugs me is with my BT earpiece, on my iPhone, I can barely hear people but on my BB's, I need to cut the volume down in half. I've tried over 2 dozen BT earlpieces and still get the same result.

Welcome audit!!

#1) Yes. The iPod app is one of the "multi-task"/ "background" apps that work on the iPhone.

#2) Yes. You can create your own ring tone from any song in your Libray. There is athread around here about that. My wife has created several for both of us.

#3)Yes. If you use Skype, TruPhone, Etc. you can make WiFi calls. I have used Skype several times on my iPhone via WiFi and the people could not tell that I was not using a landline.

BT on any phone can be frustrating but I have had VERY good luck with my Jawbone Prime. It is a little pricey but it works flawlessly! You probably have done this but be sure to check the volume control on the phone while you are on a call with the BT headset. Not sure why but I had to do this with mine. Just because I may have had the volume up on the phone when the BT was not "on" did not mean that the vulome was up when the BT was connected. I would go into preferences while on a call and up the volume. In fact I have had to lower the volume not to get "blown-out"

Me too. My Bold had better battery life (even as crappy as it was). It may be that the 3G signal for the user was bad or non-existent, and up until the very latest (official) update, there was no way to turn off 3G on the Bold, so it was always searching for a 3G signal (at least according to various posts and such). I didn't have that much of an issue with the Bold (although my 8130 before that actually had really good battery life). The 3Gs has worse battery life, but that may be a combination of the larger screen and that I am constantly using it.

Well, I brought my iMac in 2008 and at the time, I owned a blackjack II. Obviously, the iPhone and iMacs sync beautifully. Also, the main reason why I wanted the iPhone was for the iPod and Safari, which I think is what the iphone is really based on. I don't know any other phone that is easier to use. Then there are apps, 85k of them. There were maybe 25k 2008 fall when I got the iPhone.

I can tell you why I switched. I had been a long time BlackBerry user, and I still love BBs, but my needs have changed recently. I am into a lot more of the multimedia content than I have been. As my life has gotten busier; I find that I need to do more, in the area of entertainment, on the go. I am able to conduct business on the iPhone just lime I did with my BB, but leisure activities have become a priority if my smartphone device. I have really gotten into watching movies, podcasts, listening to music, reading books, and video gaming. The BB and other phones can do this, but they don't match up to the iPhone experience in my opinion. Sometimes adult people don't want to admit that multimedia is a priority, but I'm sure it is for many.
