Battery life is the same for me, both before and after all the 3.1.x updates. I consistently get about 4 hours of total usage before needing to recharge (below 20% battery life, if not lower). That includes a mix of iPod usage, apps, games, 3G browsing, and phone calls. This is my only real complaint about the iPhone -- I wish it would last a little longer.

last night i completely drained my battery until it shut off on me then put it on the charger, like normal, all night.
the device has been off the charger for about 9 hours now and i've made a few phone calls that collectively came to about 30-45 mins, did some web browsing, not a lot, and on top of all that i was still in standby.
currently i'm at 100%
i think my phone is goin' fubar on me.

12 hours of battery from 7am to 7pm and here are my activities
1) Turn on Wifi for 10 minutes of RSS reading and downloading RSS
2)Close Wifi,, and receive emails throughout the day from MobileMe Push,
and Exchange ActiveSync (Push from my office)maybe total of 40 emails
3) Two 5 minute calls
4) Wifi for 5 minutes again
6) Location services on, Notifications off, Wifi Off (except when I mentioned),
Is this supposed to be average battery depletion given my activities? I could
just imagine what would happen, if I actually used the phone more often!
Interesting topic,, but as usual to really get an answer to battery usage, the experiment has to totally lay out what everybody's settings should be, and what activities take place, with exact timing of activities, perhaps to get a better idea.
I am pretty sure that my battery is worse off for me, compared to previous

I didn't notice any battery difference really. I thought that 3.1.2 only was supposed to address problems related to waking from sleep mode and intermittent freezing up on Youtube videos. Nowhere did I see them mention the update addressed battery usage.
I wish it addressed email delivery inconsistency problems.
