Group coversation on SMS/MMS

There was a feature on the iPhone that I loved. When I would send a text or picture to a group of people, all the replies would be in that same conversation. It would have the person's name in blue and then the message. What changed for this to stop working? Now when I get replies it shows up as a new text just from that person.

Ps: I hope that makes sense. It's kind of hard for me to explain without pictures.

what iPhone or OS were you using when you did have this feature?

i have a 3GS running 3.0.1. but to be honest, i've never received a 'reply all' response back. only SENT messages to multiple contacts. i see how this could wreck the flow of a conversation. wonder if it's a 'feature' created in order to cut down on the number of SMS messages you use up in a month? lol nah, then AT&T wouldn't get your money. stupid thought...disregard
