Why not have a USB feature like Pre?

I would like to see the ability to transfer music from iphone to computer like a USB drive. The Pre has this feature and its very Convenient.

For some reason Apple wants more control over the iPhone via iTunes and only allowing iTunes sync. You can also do this with iPods if it is in disk mode, at least past models could.
