Notifications while on a call...

While on a call, is there no option to stop notifications for text, emails etc?

A while back I thought I saw a thread about this. But can't find it...

Anyone? Also, if I end a call, shouldn't my iPhone go back to the main screen, rather than the phone menu? I don't like that, I guess I'm picky...

That's one of my biggest annoyances with the iPhone. Something I've just learned to live with as it does not look like it's changing anytime soon.
