Birthday Reminders

I use the birthday field with several of my contacts. Is there a way to set a reminder so that an alarm goes off as a reminder the same day or a week before?

If you have a mac you can import the birthday field of your contacts as a seperate calendar

I think he meant just on the iphone , which the answer is no, but they NEED to add it on to the iphone's basic(useless) calendar....

You can also use a marker on a traditional calendar on your wall and make sure you look at the calendar once a day

If you want an alert, you have to manually add it as it's own calendar event

If you have MobileMe, you can publish your birthday calendar, then subscribe to it... but this won't let you add alerts (the may be Mac only as well... not sure). Importing the birthday calendar as mentioned by a previous poster will not automatically update if you add a new birthday. You will need to export/import everytime. A published calendar auto updates.

It's a bummer, I know. I don't look at my calendar daily and have always wished I had reminders for birthdays.
