Ex-Jailbroken 2g now in recovery hell, help!?

Hi, i hope someone can help....

I have a 2g iphone which was jailbroken 2.2.1 using quickpwn. I wanted to upgrade it to 3.0 and stupidly tried it through itunes without taking any precautions, it didn't upgrade properly and gave an error.

My phone is now stuck in recovery mode but when i try and restore it i get error 1604 i have tried many things...deleting itunes/mobile support/quicktime etc i have tried an older version of itunes, I have tried jailbreaking it using redsnow, resetting the mobile support drivers, using a different usb port, tried restoring in DFU (interestingly when doing this itunes tries to restore it as an ipod).

I am at my wits end, have no phone genius bar wouldn't touch it...please someone help.

Did you try to restore using the custom 2g 3.0 firmware?

I have tried stock 3.0, custom 3.0 and gm 3.0 all error 1604. And to top it off when in DFU iTunes recognises my phone as an iPod and won't do F.all!
