I have an early iPhone -- 8gb -- and upgraded to OS3 when it came out. It's worked fine. But today, listening to an audiobook, the speech sped up. I tried powering off, no help. I understand OS3 has an audiobook speech speed setting under SETTINGS | IPOD, but mine doesn't: it has music, video, and tv-out, but no audiobook. How can I get my regular speech rate back? I haven't tried to RESET under SETTINGS | GENERAL - if I do, will I lose my email and app settings? Thanks!

I have an iPod Touch running 3.0 and an iPhone 3G running 3.0, the option is now missing for the Audiobook speed setting on both. I know it was on both with 2.2.1.

Tap the screen when listening to the audio book there is an icon under the scrubber labeled 2x. Tap that and you can change the speed of audio books and podcasts on the fly. HTH
