Computer doesn't recognize iPhone 2g

I have searched all over the internet for the answer to this, but cant find a solution.

My girlfriend has been using a iPhone 2g for some time. She upgraded to the 3gs this week. When she plugged her 2g in the computer to sync one last time, iTunes would not recognize it (mac). The phone will still charge with the power chord.

I have tried this on two other mac's, and one PC with the same result. I have tried numerous power chords. I have uninstalled itunes, then reinstalled. I have tried putting it in DFU mode and recovery mode. Nothing works!

Any ideas?

I am having the same exact problem as her. My 2G will not connect to the computer at all, this problem just popped out of nowhere. I've tried 2 chords, and 3 computers.

It will charge with the wall charger however.

I'm sorry you're having this problem I don't have any suggestions. But others are discussing the problem here as well.
