apps tab not showing

hey,
i have an iphone 3g and itunes 8.1a few days ago my itunes stopped showing the apps tab on the iphone window (the one with: summary, info, ringtones, music...etc).
the thing is that the application folder under the itunes library is showing.
further more every time i try to move music from the library to the iphone i get this message "that the files can't be played on this device" !!!
i already uninstalled itunes completly including all the hidden folders and reinstalled.
any idea? i am trying to fix it for days now.
