Changing mail badge behavior

I just noticed that my iPhone reports only the number of unread messages in my inbox for Gmail. I've dinked around but can't find a way to change it. Anyone know if this can be done? I have filters that shuttle some messages past the inbox to various labels, and I'd like to have those messages also show up as unread.

It only displays your unread emails in your inbox.

yes, my point is that it displays the count ONLY for the inbox.

What I was trying to say is that the badge only displays the amount of unread email in your inbox. It will not display unread emails from any other label and there is no way you can change it.
