Replaced 3G screen now won't sync

Replaced my 3G's screen and now the iphone won't sync with itunes or even show the battery screen when plugged in for charging. It will charge, but have to power off and on to show the new battery level. All other functions seem to work just fine. Any ideas?

I haven't had any experience with this, but if I had to guess maybe there is a screw too tight or too lose so the cable isn't making the connection properly to sync. It's probably very slight sync it's close enough to at least get a charge.
