One of my loved ones was taken into a popular Emergency Department in a NYC hospital. Today was the time I needed a phone to actually work.

Within the walls of the hospital, 3g services were non-existant, EDGE service was spotty at best. PUSH email did NOT work, SMS texts worked poorly at that. To add insult to injury, i must have dropped nearly 20 calls today--- each of which were made outside within the shadow of the 3g cell tower with UBER good signal.

when i needed my iPhone to shine, it failed hard. yesterday i was super pro-iPhone, but today, wow... when i needed it, it let me down hard...

:(

I'm sorry to hear all that. Hope things work out ok. As for the iPhone being in a hospital I know it may be hard to get a signal in there, did you use anyone's cell phone? Also, it could be a bad spot for at&t. Just trying to give the iPhone the benefit of the doubt.

ya know Bad Ash, lol, i was going to chalk this up to a bad cell tower, or bad day for at&t, but to be honest, i'm on my second phone + multiple restores on the first phone, added to poor firmware all equates early adopters anguish..

ugh, just ugh...

I totally understand, if I was in some of the situations that some of you are in... I may have bailed already. Luckily I am not. :)

That's terrible, hope your loved ones are alright.

As for the signal, I'd wait until 2.1 is released later next month to see if that fixes these (and other) issues. Apple knows that 2.0 wasn't up to their usual standards and are most likely busy at work making sure 2.1 brings back the stability and reliability of the iPhone.

Sounds like you had a rough day... I think it's time to shut the computer off and phone and get some rest. :D

I work at a hospital and outside I have full 3G service bit when I go inside it is horrible. Most hospitals do block cell service indoors.

Lots of hospitals and doctors offices block cellular signals, largely noticeable and not surprising because there are signs everywhere that tell you not to use your cell phone.

If you've had problems other than what you had at the hospital today, that's a whole different matter.

If it is ANY solace, I had battery issues with my 1st gen iPhone, and those were just *poof* one day miraculously cured.

I have noticed, since I switched over to the 3G last weekend, that I'm not doing as well on battery life, but it's nothing major. I can still go all day without charging.
