I was using a Virgin Mobile TNT kyocera phone, cost me all of $20.00. Wasn't a very fun phone, could do calls and simple texting, worked fine for calling but was a pain to text with. My gf and I waited months for the iPhone 3GS, we were going to purchase iPhones in April but decided since 'something' would probably be released in June that we would wait. It was pretty tough waiting but we were able to get our two 3GS phones on release day at the Apple store. Customer service was excellent. It's much more expensive then the TNT in terms of monthly rates, but I would say it's well worth it as I use it for everything.

Pretty much all of the latest Blackberry's. Storm, Bold, Javelin, Curve...
It's a HUGE change for me coming from a device that was the king in terms of push email, and had spectacular batter life (Storm aside). So far I'm very pleased, I can find Apps to pretty much replace any feature that I miss on my BB and I absolutely LOVE the browser.

My last phone (up until last week) was the HTC Diamond (Sprint), before that the HTC Touch and before that various WM devices going back for a lot of years. They served me really well and I don't get engaged in any which is better stuff.
This is my first Iphone and I'm also happy with it. I switched from Sprint because service in our area has become so bad and I was nervous about leaving WM. In less than a week that nervousness is gone and I've just switched my wife from her HTC Touch to AT&T and the Iphone. She also likes it quite a bit. For her its much more intuitive and easier to use than her WM phone.
The biggest problem right now is just getting to know the Iphone and how to do with it the things I need to do. Most are obvious but a few aren't. I've been reading up on Jailbreaking but still somewhat confused on that and not ready to make that jump.

A bunch of Treo's, a Centro and at some point a Mogul.
The iPhone beats every one of them, no all of them combined.
I have full contact and calendar mgmt with the sync in my office, plus all my media with a sync at home. Full IMAP email and all the other bells and whistles you all know about. I am beyond happy.
I tried putting all the old Palms stuff on fleabay, but nobody wants it...

I had BBs before (Bold, Javelin, Flip, also tried the Storm). I was juggling between one of the BBs and the 3G iPhone. When the 3.0 OS came out, I really liked it and of course, when the faster 3GS came out, it made me a fulltime iPhone user.
BBs sitting inside a big box in storage as backup phones.

Wow I have had so many phones it's all a blur LOL right before my 1st gen Iphone I had a Motorolla Ming which was actually much better than my 1st gen Iphone just not as cool. It was touch screen, played videos with realplayer, had a camera that did stills and video with zoom, played music, I could use music as ringtones AND it had bluetooth stereo I used a bunch of BBs and would never own/use one, I recently used a BB Storm it was cool for about 30 minutes and then I just wasn't impressed with it anymore.
