Default *Video inside* Need help fixing iPhone 4G

Hello TiPb people! I just joined and need help putting an iPhone 4G together. I bought it off a friend for cheap because he didn't know how to put it together. Basically he cracked his screen, tried to fix it, and couldn't put it back together.

Symptoms:
•Backlight works
•Home button works
•Ribbon for Digitizer missing?

Things it's missing:
•Back Cover
•Sim card tray
•Some screws?

Possibilites:
•New LCD/Digitizer
•New motherboard?

[Replace (dot) with . and you can see the video, sorry I just joined and do not have 10 posts :S]

It's wierd how the LCD/Digitizer screen only has 1 ribbon, is it possible the other one got cut off or ripped? Can I swap the LCD onto the other Digitizer or will I risk damaging the LCD? Don't worry about the battery flopping around in the video, I still have a 3GS but an upgrade would be nice.

Basically what do I need to make this thing working again and if it's minor, I'll just order the parts off eBay or somewhere. I just want to get it functioning as in touchscreen and display, not making phone calls yet. Any advice is welcomed. Thanks!

I assume you mean a 4, since there is no 4G iPhone?

Yes I mean the 4, sorry it's a habit since I had the 3G and 3GS. Why do they make it so complicated lol?

Unless your pretty experienced with them send it into a repair center.
I have repaired about 200 of the iPhone 4 GSM units and i can tell you this
there are about 30 screws in there
the LCD/Glass/Digitizer are one unit. The LCD is adhered to the glass to keep lint out as well as minimize the space between the glass and LCD. The LCDs are fragile. There are 2 ribbon cables with connectors on the assembly.
If your missing screws it will be hard to know what size since there are about 5 or more different size screws.

If it was complete, and you were experienced with electronics, i would say sure fix it your self. But with it being in pieces and missing stuff, send it off and spend the few extra bucks for parts / labor.
Heck at my shop i enjoy a challenge like that. LOL I would charge for new Glass/LCD/Digitizer assembly and throw in the rest of the minor pieces for free.

Can you actually buy an iPhone motherboard?? I have two iPhones that are just parts basically, but no working motherboards.

Sent from my iPhone that was once black, but now has a voided warranty and a little blue dot at the bottom right of the screen using Tapatalk
