Why do you need to switch it off? Also why is it such a problem? I'm sure it's a little concerning but as long as both buttons work and the phone works then its something you just should live with unless you want to upgrade.

I have no idea why that is happening to you or whether it is a mechanical issue or a software issue. Therefore, you can either accept booting your 3GS like you currently are doing or you can try to reset and restore it. You can also take it to Ape and see if they can fix the problem. Still, if the problem only lies in the way it turns on, then I would probably leave well enough alone.

wen i upgrade its working fine.. like i switching it off connecting it with laptop it will turn on by just power button.. but wen its not connected it ownt if i switch it off..
