Hi - my first post so lets hope you guys can help me

Carried out my first DIY iphone repair - new battery in iphone 3GS. Seemed to work fine. Then I noticed that the the earpiece didn't work and the screen didn't go blank - simple diagnosis; cable 3 not reinserted into its connector. I resolved this and the earpiece issue was solved. But, the screen no longer blanked when phone held to ear.

More research suggested Proximity sensor issue, so now that I am super confident (!!) I ordered a new sensor and have just replaced it - your how-to on You Tube is excellent! All seemed to go well, but still teh screen doesn't go blank when held you my ear. Everything else seems to be working fine.

Does anybody have a suggestion that could help me please? Changing the sensor seems to be the defacto solution. Now that it hasn't worked for me, I'm a bit lost as to what to try next.

Hope you can help me.
