Hi I have got a iphone 3 which has been unlocked and have been told if I go to updated it, it will be locked again back to the network, anyone know if this is true? Thanks

If it has been factory unlocked, no, it can not be locked again even if you update it.

If the bloke unlocked it through iTunes, it's factory unlocked. If he unlocked it through a jailbreak, you'll lose it when you update. Perhaps more detail on who the bloke is and what market you're referring to?
