Restore it. Plug it into iTunes and hit restore.

Oh. Yeah if you update it, you will lose the unlock and currently there isn't a way to unlock it using the latest version.

i have had the same problem for ages and tried loads of things... saw somewhere that shaking it worked, tried that and.... it worked.

I have this same issue on my iPhone 3G. I haven't given it much thought as I don't really use it. I use my iPhone 4. But I'd like to solve this too.
