iOS 4.2 Update iPhone 3G

Has anyone with a 3G iPhone updated to 4.2? Curious to the results. My wife's aging 3G is still on 3.1 and I am hesitant to update to 4.2 given the reports of slower OS speeds on the 3.2 build update.

Rumor was that 4.2 was going to fix these issues to allow for 3G hardware owners to update to the current OS without a speed deficiency.

Please let me know if anyone has had good or bad results here. Thanks.

I think its better apps seem to open up faster than 4.1 which made the 3G more usable. It's been so long I can't remember what my performance was like on 3.1.3 but it's definitely the best of any of the iOS 4 versions.

I upgraded my 3G yesterday to 4.2... No problems here!

It's great. I was still on 4.0 as of yesterday, but I decided that I couldn't take it anymore (I didn't want to upgrade to 4.1 because I was too nervous). I did the upgrade myself and after a couple hiccups, it seems to be good now.

No more waiting...waiting...waiting for apps to open.
