Iphone 3G 4.0...can i update?

So itunes is telling me there is an update to 4.01 or 4.1. Either way i am unlocked and jailbroken, can i still update or will it lock it back to att? Sorry for the noob question. First iphone.

It will lock it and un-jailbreak it.

However, you can go to jailbreakme.com and jailbreak it under the new OS update. But it'll still be locked for now. Updates coming soon on that subject.

You can also use pwnage or snowbreeze to create a custom firmware and still be jailbroken. Then install ultrasn0w and you can unlock again.

Mate loads of peeps including me have gone for 4.0 on 3G and it's rubbish , mine stick all the time now . I would stay clear of it , I wish I had

You don't want to go to 4.0 or 4.0.1 on a 3G anyway. It will slow it down considerably and you'll end up wanting to revert back to 3.1.3. Besides, I don't see why you'd really want to update seeing as the offerings of Cydia are currently better than what is provided on the newer iOS 4.
