My Iphone 3g froze up. What can I do?

I have a 3g, and its frozen up. Its currently in standby, and I can't power the phone off or anything. Hitting the home, and power buttons dont do anything, its basically frozen.

Any suggestions? Should I take it to the apple store?

hold both the home and power buttons at the same time until the apple logo appears.

Thanks, it worked! What would cause it to freeze like that? Is it the new software upgrade? Ever since I upgraded it when it came out its been kinda slow sometimes.

Restoring the phone as new rather than from a back up seems to fix the slow issue.
