It seems as though keeping it on EDGE while I'm at work, where I'll only use it for e-mails/weather, really saved up the battery

Especially useful so I have extra juice to listen to the Red Sox radio feed on MLB At Bat on the way home...

I turn of 3G at work and at home, as I have wifi both places. If I need quick internet access while out and about I'll turn it back on. I now can run from about 6:30 am to 10:30 pm without a boost charge.

After using a Verizon phone (a Motorola Krave ZN4) hampered by the Verizon UI... I'd rather run an iPhone on EDGE and have it work than a crap Verizon phone running on EVDO.

I have no 3G where I live (it's slowly creeping this way, about 10 minutes down the road, I have 3G).

When I do wander out and about and I get 3G service, I normally leave it, unless I'm low on battery or am trying to conserve the battery, then I'll revert down to EDGE only. When I do have 3G, I definitely take advantage of it!

The 3G connection is very "loose" in my area - if I go out in front of my house, I get 3G, but if I start to move down city (where I am the most) I get edge.
If would choose 3G, but there's just not enough connection around here for it to work, so when I cannot access wifi, I'm stuck with edge.

No 3G in my area. WiFi is it for me. I'm only on edge when there is a power outage or when I leave my house. Not a problem since the only place I go is to the movies and I'm not using my phone there. :)

Is the battery difference pretty dramatic? I always run on 3G, but I listen to mostly podcasts while at work maybe I should drop it to edge when it's not in use?
