cell number disappeared

Hi I hope someone can help.

I received an iPad mini for Christmas. When I first set it up using my existing apple ID both my cell number(iPhone) and my email associated with the apple ID showed up in the "send and receive" list for Messages and Facetime. I noticed last night when my wife messaged me that only my iPhone rang. I went into settings on my iPad and found that my cell number was no longer listed.
I have tried google searches and tried the toggle off and on tricks that are listed, made sure the cell number is listed as iPhone in my contact card(this fixed it for my wife) and made sure the cell number was listed in my info in my apple ID account. As far is I can see everything is as it should be. Still no cell number on iPad. The strange part is it had been there and I had been receiving iMessages and Facetime on both iPhone and iPad.

I hope someone can point me in the right direction.

Did you include the number in your iMessage settings on your iPad?

It originally populated when I put in my apple ID and was there and checked. It has now disappeared and there is no place I can find to enter it.

You could try signing out of iMessage on your iPad then signing back in. Maybe that will force the phone number to reappear.

First off, thanks for all the replies.

Settings, Messages, Send & Receive , The only option here is to add an email address.

I have tried turning off iMessage and turning back off, also toggling on and off airplane mode (this was suggested on the apple support discussion forum). I have signed out and back into my apple ID.
So far I have not found anything to work. Will probably breakdown and call Apple tomorrow.

Just an update. I called Apple yesterday. I was upgraded to a specialist. He had me sign out of my apple id on my iPad and on my iPhone. Then sign back into my apple id on my iphone first then iPad last. It took overnight but my iPad now has the two contacts (cell number and email) for iMessage and facetime.
