Why am I missing email folders after I did a back up from iCloud?

Missing email folders after backup from ICloud

Just bought a IPad Mini w retinal display. Backed up ipad2 to icloud. Had several folders setup in Mail. After restoring from ICloud to the Mini - none of the mail folders are present. Missing. Disappeared. What happened? Does anyone know how to restore these missing folders? Thanks for any help...
