If a passcode is set on the iPad, does opening the Smart Cover show the lock screen or the passcode screen?

I don't have one set but I would think that it would show your lock screen until you try to swipe then it will be the passcode screen

There used to be a setting that gave the user some control of whether the Smart Cover locked the screen or not. It's not there anymore in iOS 7. By default it is just set to lock.

It's is there. I'm just asking if opening the cover should show the lockscreen or passcode screen.

It opens to the pass code screen. However, you can set the passcode to not be required until after 1 or 4 hours, so you don't see it often. Not the most useful option, but there it is.
