iPad Air International Travel

anyone travel internationally with their iPad Air and successfully swap out your US-carrier nano SIM card with one from a local carrier in the country/countries you travelled to? if so, please share any advice and how-to information. And, did it make any difference having cellular capability versus just using wifi? I suppose it varies by country.

I'm still holding onto my iPhone 4 Verizon, which isn't international-capable, till the 6 comes out. So, I'll be picking up a non-smartphone for local calls, but will rely on the iPad for e-mail, Internet, etc.

It should be no different than using an international sim in a phone... the providers may even have data-only prepaid sims...
