Bought an iPad Air! Now for trade in?

I pulled the trigger an bought an iPad Air, moving up from my iPad 3. I decided to upgrade because I was no longer happy with an iPad that did not really have a name other than "iPad" (kidding)

I intend to trade in my iPad 3 somewhere - one question you can help me with if you would be so kind, I could not find the answer to this - if I decide go go Apple trade in for gift card, is that just mail in to Apple or can I take it to a store? And does it have to be tied to a transaction or can I just trade it in at a store and get a gift card and walk out?

Maybe this isn't an option for you, but you'll get the most for it on eBay or Craigslist. I sold my 2 on eBay for $415 about a month ago.

Yup, but with a "Buy-It-Now" option, which is what it sold for.
