Why can't I pair my iPad Air 2 to my 2015 Subaru Forrester?

Cannot pair iPad Air 2 to 2015 Subaru Forrester

it appears that iPad does recognize the car blue tooth. Tried the approach in the Subaru Manuel but no luck. My husband, who,is way more tech savvy, spent over 2 hrs on this issue.
Ideas???

How are you trying to set it up, as a media device or a phone? Since its not a phone that could be one issue, as a media device it should work. I would also try some of the Subaru forums they can be of assistance in this particular case.
