I just might upgrade to iPad 4...

...and here's why. As I sit here with no power in NJ (thanks Sandy) & wait for Netflix to load on my wifi iPad 3 via the hotspot on my iPhone 4, I think to myself, "Maybe an LTE iPad is the way to go. No tethering means faster data delivery." If I can get 300 bucks for it on Gazelle, I just might do it.

Oh, and here's hoping for the power to come on soon.

I love my LTE on the tablet. Makes it a totally different device (or at least it feels that way). I no longer like being constrained to wifi range.

Sure, tethering is an option, but it's just one more step.

Yeah, I do plan on getting the iPhone 5, but does it work any better as a hotspot than the iPhone 4? For example, would I be able to use Netflix on my iPad via tethering? If so, I'd just upgrade the phone. If not, I'll upgrade them both.

Still no power, but glad to be in one piece.

Well, the iPhone 5 will have access to 4G LTE, whereas the iPhone 4/4S are only 3G, so that alone will help dramatically.

Hope your power comes back soon!

I have an ipad mini coming on Friday... but if I can't get used to the non-retina display, I'll return it to get a 4... i just sold my ipad 3 on ebay, so no turning back now... but we'll see how the mini fares... if it doesn't cut it... retina ipad will be back in my hands sooner than later ;)

It depends on your plan. For me, I have unlimited so spending the extra $130 PLUS data costs would make no sense. I can just spend $30 for unlimited tethering and I'll be good to go.

Very true re: cost. Once I get my power back, I'll just snag an iPhone 5 when I can get my hands on one.

Thanks for the insight, everyone. This keeps my mind off the chaos surrounding me. :)
