We put a Griffin Survivor on grandsons ipad and it could with stand anything!! But it was heavy and felt so big. We now have the Life Proof and really like it so far. And a Zagg screen protector.

I have some kid's iPad Mini cases on order from Kay's Cases that I ordered off of Amazon. They haven't arrived yet so I hope the work out. The version for the full size iPad had decent ratings.

We have an Otterbox Defendernon my wife's iPad that the kids play. It's thick, heavy and kind of klunky but it protects the iPad extremely well.

I got the case today. It seems like it will work well although I won't know for sure until after she gets the mini for Christmas. It's the Kay's Cases KidBox from Amazon. Depending in the age of the kid, it's really cute. It even has a handle that doubles as a stand. Does not protect the screen though do I need to get a screen protector. And not waterproof if that is a factor in your decision.
