iPad 3 question

Next to the battery meter, I've noticed a circle with an arrow with a lock icon within that circle. Any idea what that could be?

Your screen rotation feature is set to lock. To unlock it, double tap on the home button, swipe the bottom to the right until you see the music control buttons. To the far left is an icon that resembles a white arrow in a circle with a lock inside. Tap on that icon to disengage the screen rotation lock feature.
