Verizon Update

I posted this in the iPhone 4S forum as well but no one seems to know what it's for. I just got an update on my iPhone and iPad. It changed the Verizon version, but... Why? What's it for? You can more than likely tell I'm new to CDMA.

Carrier settings are "under the hood" instructions your device needs to connect to your provider's network... default information used to connect to proprietary network services...
