I want know what apps and accessories are a must for my pops. he hates electronics but if they are for him he likes them. lol

A good case or stand. I am a fan of the Incipio Kickstand cases for the multiple viewing angles they offer. I have also found my bluetooth keyboard to be invaluable. Last thing I can think of would be a longer charge cord.

Well, maybe a microfiber cloth to clean the screen with too.
