Kia UVO system sync question

Hello all. I have searched all over and cannot confirm if the iPad will sync with Kia's new UVO system. My mom just got a new Kia and wants to buy an iPod to sync with the system and use the deck controls to control the iPod. She also wants a tablet so it makes sense to save the $300 for the iPod and just get an iPad. Problem is that she doesn't have anyone willing to run a trial on theirs and I live five hours drive away. I hope I can find a user here that has either tried it out or is willing to before the ten hour round trip.

ipod

i have the sorento 2012 and with an ipod 5gn connected to it. i can control the ipod from the touch screen of the car and you only need a Kia ipod cable that cost 29 dollars. works great. charges and integrate the ipod. Dont know if ipad will work but it should.
