charging ipad2 with laptop

Hi. I have been using iphone for a long time and today bought a new ipad2. i have a query relted to charging it. When i connect iphone to my laptop to synchronize it with itunes, the iphone gets charged also.

However when i connect ipad2 with laptop it do synchronizes with itunes but does not gets charged. It shows as not charging. when i connect ipad2 with power directly then it gets charged.

My query is does ipad2 cannot be charged when it is connected with laptop as is in the case of iphone.

The iPad requires more power to charge. Most usb ports don't have enough juice to get the device charging, well sort of. Even though it says not charging, it is just VERY SLOWLY!.
