I use Sunrise and never look back on native calendar.

I also switched to third party apps for calendar a while ago. I use WeekCalendar ([URL="https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/week-calendar/id381059732?mt=8&at=10l3Vy]iPhone[/URL], iPad non Universal apps) and this great [URL="https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/events-widget-events-on-today/id470828213?l=en&mt=8&at=10l3Vy]Events Widget[/URL].

Welcome to iMore! There shouldn't be any change in calendar behavior from iOS 8. Go to Settings > ICloud and toggle off Calendars, then toggle Calendars back on. Do this for any third party calendar services (Outlook, Google, etc.) as well by going to Settings > Mail Contacts, Calendars and toggling calendars off and on for each of them.
Once you've completed that give it a few minutes to sync and let us know if you're still having issues.

I use Sunrise and never look back on native calendar.

I think this is service level, not app level. That being said, I use Fantastical 2 and it's much better for me than the stock Calendar app.

I'm good with Sunrise and I find it better than any calendar app including stock one. And it's free!
