does upgrading to IOS 9 preserve an iPhone's voice memo app and (important) the voice memo files already recorded? past upgrades have been shaky in this area

i don't know the answer but all I do know is that I upgraded to iOS9.0.1 and my voice memos app won't open. I have 3600 important voice memos and I have managed to save 2300 but I can't access the app or the other voice memos - even if I plug my phone into itunes. I am absolutely devasted! If anyone knows how to fix this it would be much appreciated!
