Hi; I'm an Apple guy looking to buy his first iPhone, but due to the smallness of my wallet, the only model i can afford is the iPhone 4S.

Now, I know this is an older device and I shouldn't expect much, but i have read that it's ran iOS 7 surprisingly well. But what I'm worried about is how it will handle iOS 8 and future app updates.

So, i would like to ask all you out there who have tested iOS 8 beta on the 4S to tell us how it has performed so far in your experience. Thanks in advance.

I don't have a 4S and I don't know if you were planning on buying it outright or on a contract, but one thing to consider is that the price of the 5 (if you can find one used) and 5C are likely to drop as soon as the 6 comes out-most likely in September. So if you can wait until then, you might be able to afford the 5/5C which at that point would be two generations old as opposed to the 4S which will be 3 generations old when the 6 arrives.

I agree with Karen, and I can attest that iOS 8 runs well on the iPhone 5...

I agree, if you can wait until the iPhone 6 is released you'll probably be able to get an iPhone 5 pretty cheap. Even prices on the 5s will be reduced. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice guys, I'll keep it in mind! I do like the iPhone 5 and was looking into used ones.

But regardless, I'm still curious about the 4S's performance with iOS 8.

I don't know how the 4s is running iOS8 beta. I had a 4s that ran iOS 7 without any problems. Hopefully, someone will be along who can answer your question.

Unstable, at best. Slow and well i can only compare it to 4.0 on the 3G

I have a secondary, iPhone 4s, and am running iOS 8 Beta 3, I believe. It's working fine, but I can't tell you about battery life. I've just barely played around with it.

Beta 5 seems to be running OK on the 4S now. It's definitely more than usable.
