MDM Solution and Apple Configurator

Our Company just purchased an MDM Solution and when I was reviewing the categories of items I can restrict on a device, I was told by my MDM provider that I would need to put that device into Supervised mode and I would have to use Apple Configurator to do this. I was wondering if anyone has a list of features that need to have Supervised mode turned on if you restrict them on a device?

Other iOS 7 MDM capabilities that IT can perform only on supervised devices include the following.
Installing apps directly with no user involvement. Filtering Web content. Preventing users from creating or modifying Apple ID accounts. Disabling changes to find my friends and Disabling iMessages.
